On the 18th of June, 2005, Chatmag News first reported that Yahoo! discontinued their user created chat rooms. As noted in previous Chatmag News articles, Yahoo! chatters expressed anger at the closing of their favorite chat rooms. After posting that article, many Yahoo! chatters have contacted Chatmag, seeking alternative chat areas similar to Yahoo! Chat.

Chatmag has compiled a list of alternative chat rooms. Each of these chat sites have been reviewed by Chatmag; each one are free of charge and are easy to use via a web browser.
