Court of Queen's
Bench Justice Mary Moreau handed down a lenient sentence to an unnamed
38 year old woman after conviction on Internet pornography charges. The
woman cannot be named after issuance of a court order designed to protect
her 9 year old son. She was sentenced to a two-years, less a day, conditional
sentence to be served in the community under house arrest.
She is banned
from using the Internet for three months and must get a filter to prevent
her accessing child porn sites. Further conditions also include not being
allowed to be alone with children under 16 and cannot go alone to parks,
playgrounds, schools, swimming pools or day care centers for five years.
In handing down
the sentence, the court took into consideration the womans suffering from
cerebral palsy and no prior offenses.
The woman had
been befriended by Thomas Brian Feehan, 56, of Ottawa, who posed as a Dominant
Master in a Bondage related Internet chat channel, and had ordered the
unnamed woman to transmit to him photographs of the woman engaging in sexual
conduct with her son.
She was arrested
by the city police Internet Child Exploitation team. Feehan was charged
with possession of child pornography.
