A Salineville, Ohio couple is behind bars, charged with extortion and assault. Bond was set at 1 Million Dollars for Michael Barnett, 22, and Maria Catini, 21.

The couple are alleged to have contacted their victims in Internet chat rooms, luring them to a remote spot along Highway 39 to meet for sex with Catini, who posed as an underage girl. Barnett is alleged to have photographed Catini and the victim, threatening to turn over the photographs to authorities if extortion demands were not met.

Barnett is also facing AWOL (absent without leave) charges from The United States Army.

Upon questioning, Barnett said he was inspired by the Dateline NBC series, "To Catch A Predator".

Publishers Comment. Due to the controversial nature of the Dateline NBC series, for the purposes of the charges against Barnett and Catini, the persons are referred to as "victims". Whether they are predators or not is for the law to decide, should other charges be filed.
