As of about noon
Eastern time, the Yahoo! Instant Messenger and email services experienced
difficulties which resulted in users unable to use Yahoo's two most popular
services.
Tthe main outage
centers around the Yahoo! email service. Attempts to circumvent the usual
Yahoo! email servers by logging in from the International Yahoo! sites
is sporadic at best.
Several Comcast
customers received the following email from Comcast customer service:
"Thank you for
contacting us regarding your Comcast High Speed Internet service.
Some customers
are currently experiencing email problems with Yahoo! mail service. The
problem appears to be on the Yahoo! side and engineers are working to resolve
the issue."
Yahoo! has over
this past week been experiencing sporadic outages as they work to resolve
hardware problems.
One message recieved
by another Comcast customer, from a Yahoo! customer care specialist:
"We are having
DNS issues and are upgrading servers. Sorry for any inconvenience".
According to messages
posted on Bigblueball.com a number of users are experiencing difficulties
with Yahoo! Instant Messenger.

including IM and email have been brought back online.
