Game one of the 2006 World Series, held in Detroit, has been won by the St. Louis Cardinals, with a score of 7 to 2.

Opening the World Series was legendary Detroit rocker Bob Segar, singing "America the Beautiful".

Detroit scored the first run, with St. Louis scoring four runs by the third inning. The score at the end of the eigth inning was St. Louis 7, Detroit 1.

Detroit scored a run in the ninth, with a score of St. Louis 7, Detroit 2.
