Bobbie Jo Stinnett, 23, was found by her mother Thursday, dead and in a pool of blood. Her mother informed 911 that  it looked "as though her daughter's stomach had exploded,".  Lisa Montgomery, 36, of Melvern, Kansas, confessed to strangling Bobbie Jo Stinnett, and cutting the baby from her womb.

Montgomery is alleged to have contacted Bobbie Jo Stinnett through the RATTERRIERS. discussion group, regarding a rat terrier for sale.  If convicted, Montgomery could face the death penalty, or a maximum of life in prison and a maximum $250,000 fine.

Bobbi Jo was also mentioned on  "wee bits rat terriers 2001" a MSN discussion group focusing on rat terrier dogs.  Several message threads in the group mention her passing.

Both Bobbi Jo Stinnett and Lisa Montgomery were long time posters in the Ratterriers discussion forum.

Baby found safe in Kansas and reunited with her father.

Update: 20 January 2005

Lisa Montgomery pleaded not guilty in Federal Court today.  Her trial is to begin the week of March 14, 2005.
